A “Silicon Valley” company may be reaching even closer to a general HL (hyperlearning) agent. President David Boulton is developing a common user interface that could overlay almost any kind of knowledge base or instructional program, and that could work on nearly any computer “platform,” from a large corporate network to a portable unit like Sony's Data Discman. Boulton's interface, or agent, goes beyond other hypermedia tools by being designed especially to facilitate learning, not just information retrieval. His agent is even adjustable by the user to adapt to different individual learning styles.
